During the 2025–2026 school year, the number of educational activities organized by the Ignitis Group for students and teachers continued to grow. Hundreds of lessons, dozens of events, and field trips were organized throughout Lithuania, reaching not only major cities but also smaller towns across the country. Educational activities for young people were also successfully carried out in Latvia, Estonia, and Poland.
Over the past school year, a total of about 370 lessons and 120 field trips for schoolchildren and students were organized in Lithuania, and the group participated in 30 various educational events. The educational activities reached about 70 different Lithuanian cities, towns, and communities.
Approximately 120 colleagues contributed to the implementation of the educational activities under the Ignitis Group’s #EnergySmartSTART initiative; they led sessions, participated in events, and organized educational tours of power plants and power stations.
“It is important to us that knowledge about the energy sector reaches young people throughout Lithuania—not only in major cities, but also in smaller towns and communities. We see that hands-on learning, meetings with energy professionals, and the opportunity to see up close how the energy sector operates help students better understand the importance of energy and encourage them to explore future careers,” says Vaiva Rutkauskaitė, Head of Social Partnerships at Ignitis Group.
Collaboration with partners also plays an important role in the #EnergySmartSTART initiative. Over the course of the year, the Lithuanian Energy Institute held 40 educational events, attended by approximately 800 students. The students also visited “Science Island” in Kaunas and the Museum of Energy and Technology in Vilnius, where they participated in educational activities.
These educational activities are designed to help young people better understand how the energy sector works, the importance of renewable energy sources, how a modern energy system is built, and the career opportunities that await them in this sector. During lessons, field trips, and events, students are invited to explore the world of energy through hands-on experiences, face-to-face meetings with industry professionals, and age-appropriate content.
The #EnergySmartSTART platform helps schools and teachers more easily. Approximately 10 activities related to energy. It provides information on various activities that allow students to interactively explore the Energy sector, its importance in daily life, and its prospects.
