#EnergySmartSTART, a long-term programme uniting various initiatives in the energy sector, has a new member as Vilnius Šilumos Tinklai (VST) is joining the programme!
VST is Lithuania’s largest provider of heating and hot water, servicing over 210 thousand households and businesses in the capital. After the company joined the #EnergySmartSTART programme, a tour to Vilnius Combined Heat and Power Plant 2 was added to the list of tours offered by the programme, and the number of speakers visiting schools has increased. The programme also has plans for new initiatives, which are aimed at attracting and engaging people into creating the energy sector.
“#EnergySmartSTART, which is a long-term programme, was launched to prevent potential challenges in the energy sector, including the qualified workforce shortage as current energy professionals are nearing their retirement age and the ambitious renewable energy strategy. I am excited to see that the company with a mission of creating a clean and effective energy sector and whose values include boldness to act and care for the world has joined the programme. I believe that together we will do great things to promote the energy professions that are strategically important to the energy sector,” spoke Giedrė Žlibinienė, Head of #EnergySmartSTART programme.
“Shortage of professionals in the energy market remains a huge challenge. We need new talents to reach the future of energy, so by joining the #EnergySmartSTART programme and joining forces with other energy companies, we will overcome this challenge together,” assured Dalia Vitkuvienė, People and Culture Team Lead at VST.
The #EnergySmartSTART programme was created for students and anyone who is interested in energy topics. Energy companies that joined the programme are carrying out various educational and social initiatives, organising excursions to energy companies, meetings with professionals, establishing dedicated scholarships and introducing people to career opportunities in the energy sector.
